The Women’s History Museum is very excited to be blogging with WordPress! Here is a little information about us, who we are as an organization and what we stand for!

The Women’s History Museum and Education Center is a non-profit organization and is supported by our wonderful donors!

The museum was founded by Mary B. Maschal in 1983 under the name Women’s History Reclamation Project (WHRP). Maschal set up the project in her house and it was not open to the public till 1995. In 1997 WHRP was moved to it’s current location in San Diego’s Golden Hill Community. It was not until 2003 that the name was changed to the Women’s History Museum and Education Center. Currently we are one of  five Women’s History Museums in the United States and the only one in beautiful California. For a more detailed account of our history and other information, feel free to check out our website: http://womensmuseumca.org/index.html

Our upcoming events/exhibits are as follows:

Page to Stage- this is a poetry workshop that will be held on Sunday December 4th at the museum. Pricing is $3 for students with an ID and $5 for general admissions, and refreshments will be served

Our current exhibit is our Native American Heritage Month exhibit which will be on display until the 15th of December, so make sure to stop in and learn about your Native American brothers and sisters. Admittance to the museum is free!

Diva Dash is an awesome women’s event which will take place on January 20th and 21st. Here is a blurp about this event that should not be missed, “Grab your gals and sashay your way to Mission Bay for the first ever San Diego SHAPE Diva DASH – a wild celebration of action and adventure, camaraderie and bonding. It’s Girl Power at its finest. At beautiful Bonita Cove at Mission Bay. We’re talking a girl’s weekend you won’t soon forget.” You can register and find more information for the event here: http://divadash.com/city-san-diego/san-diego-race-info/

We hold and participate in many different events within the San Diego community and are always looking for new organizations to collaborate with and events to attend. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information on events, more information or collaborations: info@womensmuseumca.org
